In the context of the first anniversary of Diogo Jota’s passing, Carlos Fernandes, one of the coordinators of the Post-Graduate Programme in Sports and Performance Psychology at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FEP-UCP), gave statements to the newspaper A Bola about the impact that highly emotional moments can have in high-performance sport.
“Portugal takes the field in the Round of 32 of the World Cup on the eve of the first anniversary of Diogo Jota’s death. For the psychologist Carlos Fernandes, the emotional weight of the occasion may even become a motivational factor.”
