News report on international academic research that addressed the topic of Stress in the Police and analysed, based on a sample of officers from the Public Security Police (PSP) in the Porto Metropolitan Area, several factors that may influence stress levels, the search for psychological support, and emotional regulation strategies.
Ana Moreno, lecturer at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and researcher at the Research Centre for Human Development, who is also the first author of this research, shared the findings of the study with Jornal de Notícias.
“More than one third of PSP officers report stress levels above what is considered healthy, yet only a small proportion of those experiencing the effects of greater psychological pressure seek specialised support.”
