The Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portugeusa (FEP‑UCP) has appointed its first Student Ambassador for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, marking a new phase dedicated to student engagement in this field.

Psychology student Matilde Marques takes on this role with the aim of strengthening the dissemination of opportunities and reinforcing the connection between the Faculty and its students. For Matilde, this appointment represents “a great source of pride”, as it allows her to “share opportunities and build a bridge between the Faculty and Psychology students”.

A role focused on engagement and academic development

In carrying out this role, Matilde intends to facilitate access to relevant information and promote initiatives linked to innovation. Her work will be developed in close collaboration with Filipa Sobral, FEP‑UCP lecturer, with a strong emphasis on digital channels, such as social media, to ensure accessible communication across the academic community.

Matilde brings to this role experiences she considers essential to her preparation. She is a member of the Communication and Image Department of the National Association of Psychology Students, a position which, she notes, requires creativity and project management skills. She also highlights her experience as an OPP Student Ambassador, through which she developed competencies related to entrepreneurship and collaborative work in academic settings.

Consolidating an initiative that begins this year

As the first to take on this position, Matilde hopes to contribute to ensuring that the initiative continues in the years ahead, maintaining active student involvement in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. She emphasises the importance of developing transversal skills in the training of future Psychology professionals. As she notes, “developing these skills is an investment in our professional and personal growth”, arguing that students play an important role in creating appropriate responses to current challenges in mental health and psychoeducation.
