PhD in Education Science

After gaining 20 years of work experience in academic administration and management, I decided to do my PhD in Education Science with Católica because I knew, from the beginning, that I would work with people and professors that believe in the education and work they did with us. We were always in close proximity with one another and challenged to keep improving. In my own case, this program gave me the extraordinary opportunity of personal and professional growth. It gave me skills and many tools that allowed me to reflect on education and my own life with a new lens, offering a sensation of indescribable freedom.

The PhD in Education Science at Católica Porto gave me many incredible moments; interactions with excellent professors, open and broad-reaching discussions that connected with classroom themes, precise training, care and attention from professors throughout my academic journey and research are some of the most notable reasons that I believe made this PhD program an enriching and profound experience.

The PhD program in Education Science has been an opportunity to learn scientific and research skills and knowledge in the field of Education Science. This program has contributed to my reflection about schooling and education to foster sustainable and fundamental educational practices and strategies. It has allowed me to grow professionally and as a researcher. I want to highlight the opportunities for learning and reflection created both in and outside of the classroom through the shared knowledge between students and the teaching staff, the strong connection to educational contexts, the encouragement by the teaching staff and the cooperation between the PhD students.

Matriculating in the PhD in Education Science was a carefully thought-out decision because I was aware it would be a significant challenge that demanded a lot both personally and professionally. However, the motivation was enormous and the concerns that needed to be shared gave me the necessary push to have the courage to embark on this adventure. I must emphasize the dynamic nature of this program for the many moments of sharing experiences, of debate, of enrichment and of constant challenge. And my concerns? Some vanished, but others emerged during the process. It was all part of this dynamic of learning and growth.
