Program Description
The Master’s in Psychology at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FEP-UCP), in Porto, prepares highly qualified professionals to work in clinical, educational, social and forensic contexts, as well as to develop excellent scientific research.
This programme offers three areas of specialisation:
Clinical Psychology and Health
Education Psychology and Human Development
Psychology of Justice and Deviant Behaviour
The programme includes two pathways:
Profissional: One-year Curricular Internship
Academic: Dissertation integrated into a research project

What is the duration and study format?
The programme lasts 2 years (120 ECTS) and is taught in a daytime, in-person format on the Católica Porto campus (Foz).
What is the language of instruction?
Portuguese.
Is a Bachelor’s in Psychology required to apply?
Yes. It is a mandatory requirement.
Is an internship included?
Yes, there is a curricular internship in the second year, plus international opportunities via Erasmus.

How is the programme connected to research at FEP-UCP?
The themes for the Master’s Dissertation align with the research lines of the Research Centre for Human Development, which is FEP-UCP’s R&D Unit.

Does the Master’s in Psychology at FEP-UCP grant access to the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association (OPP)?
Yes. Upon completing the 120 ECTS, students obtain the academic qualification required to register with the OPP and begin the supervised junior professional year.
What specialisations are available in the Master’s in Psychology at Católica Porto?
You may choose from three specialisations: Clinical and Health Psychology, Education Psychology and Human Development and Psychology of Justice and Deviant Behaviour.
What academic degree is awarded upon completion, regardless of the chosen specialisation?
All students are awarded the degree of Master in Psychology. This qualification provides a solid foundation for professional practice and OPP registration.
If I choose one area of specialisation now, can I work in another area of Psychology in the future?
Yes. The specialisation defines the focus of your internship and dissertation but does not limit your career. After completing the Master’s and the OPP’s junior professional year, you may transition between areas through practical experience, continuing education or postgraduate training.
