José Matias Alves, Professor at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FEP-UCP), will give a lecture on "Teachers' digital competences and the challenges of hybrid teaching" at the Faculty of Education and Communication of the Catholic University of Mozambique in Nampula. The conference will take place on 10 June from 9am to 12pm (Mozambican time).

The FEP lecturer will talk about the scenarios for future education outlined by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) until 2040, and will discuss the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) model, which proposes a framework for understanding the knowledge that teachers need to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practice.

José Matias Alves will also present strategies for hybrid teaching, ways of working with teachers and students, and pedagogical assessment methods and practices.

"This topic is of global importance and relevance. However, it is particularly relevant in the context of a country with a significant geographical dimension - 11 provinces and 33 million inhabitants - and where democratising access to education is a national imperative. For these specific reasons, hybrid teaching and the digital literacy of teachers and students are fundamental tools," says the FEP professor.

The professor will spend 10 days at the Faculty of Education and Communication of the Catholic University of Mozambique, teaching a module of the Faculty's PhD in Educational Sciences - Specialisation in Educational Innovation, on the subject of "Quality Assessment and Education and Training Systems".
