Pedro Ribeiro (BEng, MSc, PhD) is a Biomedical Engineer and holds a PhD in Applied Psychology from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Nottingham Trent University, and Blanquerna Ramon-Llull University.
He has been a member of the Human Neurobehavioural Laboratory (HNL) team since 2021, having completed both his master’s and doctoral studies at the laboratory. He wrote his Master’s thesis on spectral and non-linear metrics in stress classification using EEG and ECG data, and later undertook his PhD research on consumer behaviour, specifically the methodologies underpinning this field of research. During his PhD, he was a research fellow for the Bioshoes4All project, collaborated on the be@t project, and served as a scientific advisor on the CAPSULE and MUS-A projects.
Pedro is interested in advanced methodologies for analysing data from biological systems, consumer behaviour and related areas, and interdisciplinarity.
He is currently working on his postdoctoral project, entitled Critical.AI, in which he seeks to investigate the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education. He is also a teaching assistant in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, and in Statistics, R and Python Programming at Católica Porto Business School.
Outside of academia, he currently serves as Treasurer of the organisation IEEE Young Professionals Portugal.
