The traditional organisational grammar of schools — based on fixed classes, rigid timetables, and disciplinary compartmentalisation — no longer meets the challenges of the 21st century.
Drawing on the article School leadership and organisation in times of complexity: paths to a collaborative and regenerative school, we propose to view the school as a complex, interactive, and adaptive system, whose traditional organisational grammar — based on fixed classes, rigid timetables, and disciplinary compartmentalisation — no longer responds to the challenges of the 21st century.
