The main goals of this curricular unit (CU) are to familiarize students with: 1) the main mental health problems of childhood and adolescence, through the understanding of signs and symptoms, as well as their different forms of manifestation; 2) the basic principles that guide the promotion of mental health.
The learning outcomes are:
- To understand processes of psychological maladaptive functioning and their meaning in psychological development.
- To know the different mental health problems in childhood and adolescence.
- To identify the major guidelines for promoting mental health in childhood and adolescence.
At the end of the curricular unit is also expected students will have developed analytical skills and critical reflection ethically supported on the general and specific knowledge of this CU, as well as problem solving and communication skills.
