The course is designed to promote an understanding of the function and regulation of the human body and physiological integration of the organ systems to maintain homeostasis. The main objective is to provide students with basic knowledge in different areas of Biological Sciences that may allow them to understand and explain
situations that involve interrelationships between Biology and the different areas of Psychology.
The skills to be acquired are:
- Knowledge on the basic aspects of organization and functioning of living organisms, the mechanisms of hereditary transmission and pharmacotherapy basics, in order to understand the main aspects of human biology relevant for training in psychology;
- Capacity to recognize the relevance of different physiological phenomena on human behavior;
- To understand the reasons behind the physiological systems' disfunction and the consequences upon human well-being.
