Psychology and Human Rights

5 ECTS / Semestral

This course intends to promote students’ knowledge of Peace Psychology, a discipline of psychology that aims at applying the knowledge and methods of psychology in order to prevent violence (e.g. war, terrorism, torture) and to promote human rights and peace. Students are expected to know the major theoretical contributions of Peace Psychology and the major intervention contexts in this domain, develop specific skills of psychological intervention in contexts of direct and structural violence, and develop critical thinking and a sense of social responsibility in the exercise of Psychology.
