The session, entitled “Being a GOOD Clinical Psychologist: what I wish I had been told at university!…” (4th Edition), will take place on 4 March, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, at the Universidade Católica in Porto, in the Carvalho Guerra Auditorium. The speaker will be Ricardo Barroso.

About Ricardo Barroso
Psychologist, specialist in Justice Psychology and Clinical Psychology accredited by the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association. He is a Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto and an integrated researcher at the Centre for Psychology at the University of Porto.In the field of research, he has coordinated and/or taken part in several national (FCT, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) and European projects (Internal Security Fund, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions). His scientific work has focused on the application of psychological science in different justice contexts, with a particular emphasis on the study of multiple forms of interpersonal violence. In this context, he has developed and implemented several psychological intervention programmes and has collaborated as a consultant with national governmental bodies (e.g., Ministry of Justice) and international organisations (e.g., United Nations).
He is also a member of the VITA Group, created by the Portuguese Episcopal Conference to coordinate the Catholic Church’s response to cases of sexual abuse. He serves on the Independent Technical Commission for Monitoring Compensation for Victims of the Ascensor da Glória Lift Accident, established by the insurance company Fidelidade, and is currently a member of the Clinical and Health Psychology Specialty Board of the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association.
