Under the theme "One Classroom, Many Stories," the Católica Learning Innovation Lab (CLIL) has launched Católica TIPS – Teaching Innovation Partnerships. This new initiative aims to bring together, every two months, professors and researchers interested in discussing topics related to Higher Education in an informal and inspiring environment.
According to Rita Tavares de Sousa, Specialist in Education and Faculty Professional Development at CLIL: "This first session of Católica Tips was a genuine exchange of experiences and knowledge. It was a moment that allowed us to approach central topics in Education in an informal, interdisciplinary manner and in a welcoming environment."
Católica Tips sessions are based on the reading of literary excerpts and/or the viewing of clips from films or documentaries, which serve as starting points for discussions on the proposed topics. Held in person and in a collaborative and sharing atmosphere, these sessions aim to create a space for reflection that culminates in both practical "TIPS" (suggestions) related to the session's theme and "TIPS" (Teaching Innovation Partnerships), representing new interaction networks.
"This first experience at Católica Tips was an opportunity to step back from the hectic routine of being a professor and researcher, reflect on my practices, and somehow try to put myself in the students' shoes. It was a true exercise in empathy, made valuable by sharing with colleagues from different fields of knowledge and with experiences different from mine. You never leave an event like this unchanged," shared Elisabete Pinto, professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology (ESB) and researcher at the Centre of Biotecnology and Fine Chemistry.
The second Católica Tips session is already scheduled for January 15th at 4:30 PM, with the theme: "Student Participation in the Classroom: What is Expected?"
