The special application period for internal faculty members at Universidade Católica runs until 25 April 2025.
The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) has opened a special application period, exclusively for its internal faculty members, for two innovative courses focused on digital transformation in education and distance learning.
This initiative is part of UCP’s Training for Digital Transformation programme, which comprises ten non-degree courses aimed at equipping young people and adults with university-level education in non-STEA(M) fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) for technological changes. The programme is part of the Portuguese Government’s “Impulso Mais Digital” initiative and the sub-measure “Strengthening Digital Skills”.
A unique opportunity for Católica’s faculty members
The two training opportunities available in this special application phase for faculty at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa are the “Digital Transformation in Education” course and the “Postgraduate Course in Distance Learning”, both coordinated by the Faculty of Education and Psychology at UCP (FEP-UCP).
This is a unique professional development opportunity, designed to respond to the emerging challenges of digital transformation. A distinctive feature of this offering is that it is completely free of charge for the university’s internal academic staff. Applications for this special phase are open until 25 April 2025.
The “Digital Transformation in Education” course (12 ECTS) is scheduled to run from 1 July to 25 September 2025. Its structure combines 40 hours of contact time with independent work, and the classes will be held online, taking place two to three days per week.
Meanwhile, the “Postgraduate Course in Distance Learning” (25 ECTS) will take place from October 2025 to February 2026, comprising 80 hours of contact and autonomous work. Sessions will also be online, two to three days a week, with the added option of two face-to-face Saturday morning sessions.
The “Training for Digital Transformation” programme
The “Training for Digital Transformation” initiative features 10 non-degree awarding courses, varying in length and awarding ECTS credits. The courses aim to develop the digital skills of the target audience, in partnership with the companies involved in the consortium.
António Andrade, lecturer at Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) and programme coordinator, highlights the importance of this initiative in light of a labour market that is increasingly digital, demanding, and appreciative of innovation and transformation.
The ten courses cover a wide range of fields and are coordinated by various Faculties of UCP in Porto, Braga, and Lisbon.
Internal faculty members of UCP are now invited to take advantage of this special period to apply for the two aforementioned courses, both coordinated by FEP-UCP.
