For professionals who want to lead innovation and excellence in neuropsychology in the future
The Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FEP-UCP) is launching a new post-graduate programme in Neuropsychology. Scheduled to start on 18 October 2024, this innovative course is aimed at professionals who want to go beyond the traditional approach of clinical psychology and be at the forefront of the most innovative developments in the field of Neuropsychology.
Coordinated by Patrícia Oliveira-Silva, director of the Human Neurobehavioural Laboratory (HNL) at the FEP-UCP and researcher at the Research Centre for Human Development (CEDH), this post-graduate course offers a unique and comprehensive learning experience.
Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to explore emerging areas of neuropsychology, from neurogenetics and artificial intelligence to computational neuropsychology and brain-machine interfaces.
In addition, "they will be able to gain a solid grounding in advanced neuroimaging and data analysis techniques, which are essential for cutting-edge research, as well as collaborating on research projects with social impact. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the research activities of the HNL, and to work with internationally renowned researchers”, says Patrícia Oliveira-Silva.
In the new FEP-UCP post-graduate programme, there will be room for the study of real clinical cases: “As much as technological advances in the field of neuroscience continue to surprise us and exponentially expand our diagnostic and interventional capabilities, nothing overshadows the excitement of hearing a compelling account of a real clinical case. Many of the classic patients we read about in books have become icons of certain clinical conditions”, says the course coordinator.
Proven experience in neurosciences
The research lines of the Human Neurobehavioral Laboratory (HNL) demonstrate the experience and excellence of the FEP-UCP in this field. For example, the HNL team has applied advanced methods of evaluation and data analysis to understand how different substances and physiological conditions affect brain function and mental health; explored how neurophysiological factors influence sleep and cognitive processes throughout life; and analysed the interface between neuroscience and education to understand how the brain learns faster.
“Participants will be able to contact these lines of research and our laboratory team to explore topics and establish partnerships", says Patrícia Oliveira-Silva.
A personalised and innovative training experience
The FEP-UCP post-graduate course in neuropsychology offers a unique and personalised learning experience. Participants have the opportunity to develop research projects that excite them in the field of neuropsychology, with the support of a team of experienced lecturers.
“Our focus is not just on knowledge transfer”, says the course coordinator. “We want to create an opportunity for each participant to develop a project that inspires them, with the group as a whole acting as a catalyst for ideas”.
Registration for the post-graduate course is open until 26 September 2024. Most of the training will be face-to-face, on Saturdays between 9.00 and 18.00. Some sessions may take place online. Interested parties can register on the course application page.
