Program Description

The Specialisation in Education Psychology and Human Development within the Master’s in Psychology at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FEP-UCP) prepares professionals to intervene in educational and social contexts and to promote human development across the lifespan.

The programme combines scientific rigour with professional practice, supported by applied research developed at the Research Centre for Human Development (CEDH).


Plan of Study

A flexible study plan that allows you to build a tailored learning pathway through optional course units from the various specialisation areas within the Master’s in Psychology.

1st Year: Development of knowledge and competencies
2nd Year:
   Professional: One-year Curricular Internship
   Academic: Dissertation integrated into a research project

Can I undertake an internship abroad?

Yes, through the Erasmus+ programme and short-term international internships.
 

Does this specialisation allow registration with the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association (OPP)?

Yes, it meets all the requirements for access to the OPP.
 

Are there scholarships for the Master’s in Psychology?

Yes. FEP-UCP offers Merit Scholarships and Awards for students with excellent academic results, as well as social support managed by Católica Porto’s Students and Employability Office.
 

What degree is awarded upon completion, regardless of the specialisation?

Regardless of the specialisation you choose (Education Psychology and Human Development, Clinical and Health Psychology, or Psychology of Justice and Deviant Behaviour), the academic degree awarded is Master in Psychology. This qualification provides a solid foundation for professional practice and for registration with the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association (OPP).
 

If I choose one specialisation now, can I work in another area later?

Yes. The specialisation defines the focus of your internship and research, but it does not limit your career. After completing the Master’s and the OPP junior professional year, you may switch areas through practical experience, continuing education or postgraduate training.
