Wednesday, February 21, 2024 - 16:55

In April, the University Psychology Clinic (CUP) will launch a programme to promote socio-emotional skills in children between the ages of 8 and 11.

Called "Sou Capaz!", the programme aims to promote socio-emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-control, assertiveness, self-esteem, responsible decision-making and social awareness through a dynamic and active approach.

"These skills are important predictors of mental health and are essential for children's emotional and social well-being," says Lurdes Veríssimo, co-author of the "Sou Capaz!" programme and coordinator of the University Psychology Clinic.

The sessions take place on Saturday mornings and begin in April

The programme costs €100 and consists of 7 sessions held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The sessions will take place on 13 and 27 April, 11 and 25 May and 8 and 29 June 2024. There will be a seventh follow-up session to be scheduled at a later date.

The programme will run with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants. Registration is now open and will close one week before the start of the programme.

Parents who need more information can contact CUP at cup@ucp.pt.

"Sou Capaz" follows on from "Ser Capaz!", a socio-emotional skills programme developed by Lurdes Veríssimo, Isabel Castro and Marisa Costa as part of the APRENDER COM TODOS project, funded by the European Social Fund.
