HNL - Image 1 - Teaching

At the HNL, research exists alongside teaching. The new generation of professionals is motivated to develop a critical spirit while being fostered to keep their curiosity and openness to learning from other scientific areas alive. These are ingredients that enrich the learning experience.

Our mission is to provide a high-quality environment for teaching and scientific training, which goes beyond classical classroom activities on the brain's basic functions and clinical conditions associated with the nervous system. In this sense, we emphasize the importance of practical training in our laboratory, where we offer students and young researchers a high-quality learning experience in a multidisciplinary team developing research in Neurosciences.

Our students can start their training in Neurosciences in the first years of their degree, through the following curricular units:

 

HNL - Image 2 - Teaching

The objective of this course is to present the general principles of brain functioning in healthy individuals, as well as the relationship between brain injury and cognitive deficits. It also includes practical classes on the most used techniques in the field of Neurosciences.

 

HNL - Image 3 - Teaching

This curricular unit fosters discussion on the neurobiological bases of cognitive and affective functions, also identifying the main neurocognitive deficits that can affect them. This curricular unit also familiarizes students with the laboratory context and with the experimental procedures aimed at recording the activity of the nervous system.
